Sister Sister Sister {LBI Family Portraits}

The “R” girls are my cousins (well, first cousins once removed, I think?) so it was fun to get the chance to hang out with them and do their family portraits on Long Beach Island. The cool thing about Long Beach Island is that, since it’s 18 miles long, you can go there for years and still find places you’ve never seen. We started the session at the nature trail by the lighthouse — the lighthouse was swarming with people but the trail was empty!

We stopped on the rocks by the lighthouse….

Then we headed back to Ship Bottom for a few more!

I have to say — like Uggs — jump shots will never get old for me:)

Thanks Mandi, Jenna and Carly!

After the Rain {LBI Family Portraits}

I’m not sure why I can’t stop using 90′s song lyrics in my posts today:)But this session took place the morning after my soggy engagement session the night before, so despite the hazy skies, it felt positively summery-perfect!

The L family were vacationing in Ship Bottom, my favorite spot on Long Beach Island. The asked me to capture a few family portraits, along with some fun candids of them enjoying the island. It didn’t hurt that they’re a gorgeous family. Max was a total ham and loved playing in the sand. Lily was a little more skeptical of my camera and the sand, but she warmed up with the help of some pretzels, my “owl assistant,” and some good old-fashioned curb-jumping.

I’m in love with every shot from this session…

Sunshine and Rain {Ocean City NJ Engagement Session}

Thanks to the title of this post, I’m probably going to have that Rob Base song stuck in my head for a week:)But I can’t think of a better way to describe Lora and Charles’s engagement session! The day of our shoot, the weather forecast was calling for rain and flooding — weird, since it was only a little hazy and cloudy on the mainland. So we decided to go for it!

Um, oops.

Turns out the weather forecast for Ocean City was specifically for Ocean City, which was getting pummeled with inches of rain. We figured we’d make the best of it. First we tried hiding in the amusement park…

…then we tried shooting in the Music Pier, but the rain was actually blowing in sideways! Luckily a sweet couple there lent me their umbrella so we could venture back out…

Luckily Lora and Charles saw the humor in it:)

Just in case it doesn’t look like it was raining that hard….

Anyway, we decided to call it a day since “soggy” wasn’t the look any of us were going for! We met up again the following weekend and — woohoo! — it was gorgeous and sunny.

We headed down to the beach for a few shots. I love the symmetry on this one:

Then back to the boardwalk to hit a few landmarks — the Strand, hanging out by Shriver’s, the photo booth at Castaway Cove.

Lora and Charles — thanks for being so fun to work with (even when you were soaking wet)! Can’t wait for the wedding!

Endless Summer {South Jersey Wedding Photography}

Emily and Charles have been together forever — seriously, there were photos of them as high school sweethearts on the reception tables! They finally made it official this summer, and I was lucky enough to get invited to the party. Yep, this wedding was definitely a par-tay! Even the triple-digit heat index didn’t slow anyone down. I love weddings like that, because there’s always something to shoot (and you never have to remind anyone to smile!).

First, a few getting-ready shots. (Check out the gorgeous bridesmaid gifts — pendants from Tiffany’s, lucky girls!)

The ceremony and reception took place at Brigalia’s in Sicklerville, NJ. Such a friendly staff and so many gorgeous locations for photos!

Um, did I mention the heat? Well, the bridal party didn’t complain once, even when they were standing in the sun in tuxes and black dresses.

You…all…ROCK.

I just love this next shot. Sigh.

Now, I have to give serious props to Emily — I love doing jump shots but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bride get this kind of air!

Perfect timing — just as we were finishing up our formal photos, a storm started to roll in. I caught this shot of the dramatic sky before we headed indoors to stay dry (and cool!).

…then it was time for the reception! I don’t think there was a minute that the dance floor wasn’t packed. And I even learned a new dance — Movin’ Like Bernie, haha.

If I haven’t mentioned it a few times already, this wedding was a blast to shoot! Thanks for making me a part of it, Emily and Charles!:)
