I shot my niece and her friends before they headed off for the Lenape High School prom this year. It was fun to ogle all the sparkly dresses — seriously, why aren’t there more opportunities for glam gowns in real life?
For the inset image, by the way, I told her to “do the Stefan pose” — any other SNL fans know what I’m talking about?
Anyway. Gorgeous dresses (and models) in 3…2…1.
When I heard that this week’s theme for the I Heart Faces photo challenge was “yellow,” I knew this was the photo I had to submit! The sunshine and the sea of yellow flowers just make me think of the first warm days of spring when the fields are in full bloom. (If you follow my blog, you might recognize this image from this post.)

I’ve been waiting for Mason to make his debut — I photographed his mama’s baby shower and her belly session — and now he’s finally here! He was exactly four weeks old the day of our session, and I couldn’t believe how awake and alert and super-strong he was! And I love his expressions in the images.. Here are a few of my favorites.

I find myself saying this a lot, but…it seems like I just did Tyler’s newborn photos last month. But here he is, ringing in his first birthday!
And we had to get a shot with this stuffed monkey. His mom has been dutifully taking his picture with the monkey every month. Here’s one of her shots from Facebook when he was three weeks old…
…and here’s the shot we got at his birthday session. I think it’s safe to say he has the upper hand these days!
Finally, we finished up the session with a cake smash — one of my favorite things to shoot. But I have to say, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone demolish a cake like this little guy! He came dangerously close to polishing off the whole thingLuckily, his mama reported that the sugar rush wore off quickly and he took a 3 1/2-hour nap!

When I was in high school, I secretly wanted to be a rock star. Unfortunately I never got further than singing an off-key rendition of “Volcano Girls” with my friend’s band at Scream in the Field. So I was stoked to see that five girls from my old high school are actually making it happen.
First, the band. Then, the story.

Now for the cool story: Out of more than 600 bands around the country competing in a battle of the bands, Short Lived Affair was one of the select few chosen to play the Zumiez stage at this month’s Bamboozle festival at the Meadowlands. If you’re not familiar with that festival or that arena, let me break it down for you:

AWESOME.
Bamboozle is an annual festival with a crazy-diverse mix of arena rockers, old-school legends, indie bands, and up-and-comers. I’ve seen everyone from Weird Al to Linkin Park play there. Case in point, Short Lived Affair shared the bill with Lil Wayne and Motley Crue (and about 50 other bands). 80,000 people show up. It’s ridiculously fun. Go next year if you can.
I got to shoot them a few days before they took the stage, and they were a blast to work with. That’s probably pretty obvious from the photos below. I’m crossing my fingers that they make it big HUGE.
