Beautiful B&W | I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

If you follow my blog, you probably know how much I love the contests and tutorials over at I Heart Faces. (Especially when I get a big fat ego boost from the judges, haha.) This month’s theme is “Beautiful Black & White,” which was perfect timing since I was just editing this sweet image from a newborn session. I love how her expression seems to say, “Step off, camera girl — these mama snuggles are ALL MINE.”

Oh So Silly! {I Heart Faces Photo Challenge}

I’ve been blessed with two awesome boys….who, most of the time, have absolutely subzero interest in my camera. Luckily, I’ve also been blessed with a mini-supermodel across the street who is always willing to humor me. So my neighbor has gotten pretty accustomed to me calling every couple of weeks to say, “Hey, can I steal your daughter for a sec?”

Which is what I did this week for the I Heart Faces photo challenge. The theme was Oh So Silly. And she is.

UPDATE: This image was chosen as one of Amy & Angie’s Favorites! Woohooo!!

Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! {South Jersey Portrait Photographer}

Just wanted to update everyone on some big news. As of July 31st, I’m taking this show on the road! Yes, I’m a little late posting this update. And no, I’m not going on a world tour. I’m just closing up my studio space and introducing a new “studio-to-go” format.

I’ll miss the smell of sawdust from my awesome neighbors at Dan Higgins Wood Flooring, but it’s the logical next step for me. Why? Well, in order to maintain the studio space, I would have to do one of two things: Raise my prices, or take on a much bigger volume of clients. Neither one really works for me. I feel nice and comfy with my current price list, and I don’t want to turn into a high-volume studio, because then my whole “personalized service” thing would go right out the window.

What does that mean for you? Well, I’m still doing the majority of my sessions on location (parks, beaches, cool local spots). I love working with natural settings and finding hidden pockets of picturesque goodness, so I’m excited to do a lot more of that. And if you’re booking a newborn session, or it’s the middle of freezing February, or you just love the look of studio shots, I’ll pack my gear and backdrops into the Kiwimobile (okay, it’s just my minivan) and your house will become my traveling studio for an hour or two.

Luckily my studio loves to travel. Here’s a fun shot I got in the middle of Main Street — literally, in the middle of the street. Promise I won’t make you do your session there.

Any questions about the new studio-to-go setup, feel free to email me!

Bright and Vivid {I Heart Faces Photo Challenge}

I’m having fun with these photo challenges at I Heart Faces, because they give me an excuse to share some of my favorite shots, like this one from this past weekend! Sara and Luke did a sibling session at the Jersey shore as a belated Mother’s Day present. Our session started at the original Ron Jon’s surf shop on Long Beach Island — I love the bright colors and the woody wagon because they remind me of LBI — bright, fun, colorful, and a little bit old-school.

From a Distance {I Heart Faces Photo Challenge}

The theme of this week’s photo challenge at IHeartFaces.com is “From a Distance,” which seems like a perfect excuse to share this gorgeous image from a wedding I shot this weekend in Brigantine, NJ. The weather was perfect and I spent my “workday” barefoot in the sand — can’t beat that! I love the connection between them in this photo, and how it captures the peaceful beauty of the Jersey Shore — the real Jersey Shore, I mean:)
